MAJA'S PASSION FOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS has been fueled by her own experience as a lifelong athlete that includes martial arts, tennis, rowing, dance, and completion of the 2003 Boston Marathon.  Believing that optimum well-being is achieved through an awareness of mind and body interaction, Maja assists each client in cultivating an awareness of mind-body principles via therapeutic massage, bodywork, and health education.

SHE COMBINES A CLINICAL AND INTUITIVE APPROACH to each therapeutic treatment based on the individual goals and values of each client.  Maja is experienced in several types of massage including Deep Tissue, Swedish, Sports, Pre/Perinatal, and Infant Massage.  She is also a practitioner of Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) - the Aaron Mattes Method, and Usui Reiki.

ACTIVE ISOLATED STRETCHING (AIS) is probably best known in the context of professional sports (Aaron Mattes, the creator of this method, has worked with hundreds of Olympic and professional athletes), but it is equally beneficial for addressing the usual physical limitations that develop from every day stresses. It allows the body to repair itself and to prepare for daily activity.

AIS CAN PREVENT or reverse declines in body functioning as a result of injuries or aging, and increase range of motion, develop strength and flexibility, and improve coordination or fine motor skills. Characteristics of AIS include:

  • Specificity
  • Active initiation
  • Incremental assists
  • Gentle motion
  • Brief duration
  • Multiple repetitions
  • Deep breathing

AIS SESSIONS are offered in 30, 60, and 90 minute increments, depending upon the protocol that best serves the unique needs of each individual client.

IN ADDITION TO MASSAGE, AIS AND BODYWORK, Maja has worked in the Boston area as a Personal Trainer and Pilates Teacher.  At H.Y.P. Studio/Wellesley, Maja hopes to focus on the unique relationship created with each client through mutual sharing and exchange of knowledge to promote healing and relaxation. Outside of H.Y.P., Maja is wife to H.Y.P. Pilates Manager Shawn Giles, and mom to a fiery and strong-willed three year old son.\
